Does company registration give me rights to trade under that name?

Does company registration give me rights to trade under that name?

There is a belief that registering a business name at Companies House (UK) provides the rights to trade under that name, however a Company House registration alone, may not provide sufficient rights.

Registering a company name does not automatically protect it by trade mark law, nor enable you to trade under that name

Choosing a trading name for a business, product or service is not as simple as coming up with a great name. Similarly if you are trading under a name it pays to be vigilant and ready to pounce if someone else starts to use your name and infringes your rights.

It is definitely worth the time thinking this through in advance
