Investor don’t want to sign NDAs
Investor bros won’t sign NDAs
Not a problem….but always ask in writing for them to sign an NDA….why?
What investors do not realise yet is that consultancies and investors who move from company to company cross pollinating ideas will increasingly find themselves the wrong side of trade secret misappropriation cases. But that is not for you to worry about yet.
So if they will not sign your NDA that you have asked for in writing (proof that you valued your IP enough to seek signatures on an NDA), then only tell them the non-sensitive information and do not get carried away in your reveal………
Please bear in mind that most of us are actually designed and evolved to share information and secrets (‘what’s the gossip’?!)
So spend the time listing out in order of value your most valuable secrets and be certain that you will reveal so much but not beyond that ‘red line’.
The investor can know the value of your trade secret but not the mechanics – eg no one in their right mind would reveal their ‘Google search algorithm’ to anyone, never mind an investor without an NDA! and that is even if they were promising to double their investment. ……But you can explain what it does for the business and how it differentiates the offer etc.
