Easy Trade Mark not so for Stelios or The Daily Telegraph!
The Daily Telegraph has managed to mangle its piece on the use of ‘easy’ in trade marks today by calling it a ‘copyright’ battle!
The general rule is do not include ‘easy’ in your brand name unless you want a call from Stelios and his army of lawyers – just ask pop group Hard Life formerly known as Easy Life.
It is unusual for an ‘easy’ brand to prevail, that is until Easy Fundraising came along, and the UK appeals court judged it was unlikely to cause confusion.
Doubtful the court was as confused as the Daily Telegraph!
EasyJet founder has vowed to fight this ruling, so this one may just fly on through Sunday morning!
