Sir Jony Ive British designer of the iPhone, Apple watch and MacBook met Sam Altman about 2 years ago, then about a year ago they decided to form a company and call it io.

Jony decided to recruit 55 of his mates who are also world class expert masters of design. They focussed on hardware for AI.

The concept is that there is too much AI choice and if you lock someone in with a device you will be the winner

Yesterday Sam Altman’s OpenAI bought io for $6.4bn on a promise ‘they would have something next year’!
