“I had to borrow a spectator’s chair to reset my shoulder”

Overall Tour de France victory contender Primož Roglič suffered a dislocated shoulder after crashing on the cobbles during stage 5 of the Tour de France: “I lost time because I had to borrow a spectators chair to put my shoulder back in”

The Tour de France has to be one of the toughest sporting events in the world.

In 1910 Octave Lapize summited the Tourmalet mountain and passed the organizer’s car, he screamed “Vous êtes des assassins! Oui, des assassins!” (French for “You are murderers! Yes, murderers!”)

A few years ago Geraint Thomas rode the whole tour with a fractured pelvis and had to be lifted onto his bike each day.

The winner of this years stage 2 was nearly killed two years ago when he crashed into a concrete block and required extensive facial surgery.

What a spectacle and amazing feat of strength, skill and of course endurance.

Vive le Tour!
