If the Dahl family had not carefully guarded the copyright and other intellectual property over the last years arguably it would not have been worth quite as much.
Roald Dahl created classics such as Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda, BFG and The Witches. Over 300m of Roald Dahl’s books have been sold in 63 different languages.
Netflix now owns all rights for all the works of the Roald Dahl Story Company and it plans to expand into games, stage shows and other live experiences.
With the Roald Dahl copyright expiring in 40 years this was a good time to sell .
