xAI (Elon Musk’s AI startup) has sued a former engineer at the company for allegedly stealing trade secrets related to its Grok chatbot and taking them to rival OpenAI! One engineer. One codebase. And a whole load of competitive edge!

Hang on you say Musk wants to delete all IP laws – well yes but not when it comes to trade secrets 😀

Trade Secrets protect the know-how, model, training data, system prompts, algorithms, code, but also competitive edge and its billions in technology investments.

xAI is suing for financial damages and to block the engineer’s move to OpenAI. Could the case even lead to OpenAI having to prove its models aren’t built on stolen tech?
