1 in 10 of the UK population had data stolen from the Coop!
The hackers no doubt sold the credit card and DoB info on the dark web
What the Coop is not saying is how their strategy documents, competitive intelligence, pricing and supplier details have been stolen as well. Not to mention their software code and algorithms?
Reputation is vital and the Coop actually emerged from this ok, far better than M&S.
But what if some detailed analysis of Coop customer buying behaviour, built into a predictive algorithm that had taken years to develop was stolen and shared to their competitors? Should stakeholders be made aware of this too?
We are being blind sided by the public message and focussing on the wrong metrics
